Our foray into Croatia hadn’t been too successful thus far. After the beauty of Slovenia, Croatia with its quiet (read: boring) mountaintop towns and disastrous campsites (truly horrendous) was not living up to our expectations. We needed to seriously correct that.

We hadn’t planned on visiting Mošćenička Draga, but it had a campsite with 5-star reviews on Google and so we knocked on their door to hear if they had room for us for one night. They did! A lovely gravelly spot, surrounded by greenery, within walking distance of the beach. We didn’t think twice.

We parked the campervan for the night and headed down to the promenade.

It was delightful! A pebbly beach dotted with colourful umbrellas and the sparkling Adriatic Sea, hemmed with picturesque houses and a boardwalk brimming with restaurants. It had that relaxed holiday vibe to it and we finally felt like we might actually like Croatia.

Ice cold beer in hand, some of the best pizza we’d ever had, and a three-year old playing on the pebbly beach. Ah, now that’s the life!

Have you unexpectedly happened on little gems like this? Where did you go to find yourself finally feeling like you were on holiday?
